Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS)
The Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) is a government program that helps improve the energy efficiency of homes in Great Britain. The scheme is designed to help reduce energy bills and tackle fuel poverty.
GBIS funding is available for:
● Insulation: Cavity wall, loft, roof, and solid wall insulation
● Ventilation: Free ventilation upgrades to help keep homes warm and free of damp and mold
GBIS is available to:
● Low-income and vulnerable households
● Homes with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D-G
● Homes in Council Tax bands A-D in England and A-E in Scotland and Wales
GBIS is administered by Ofgem and began in April 2023, with a scheduled end date of April 2026.
You can be a homeowner, landlord or tenant (either renting privately or from a housing association). If you’re a tenant, speak to your landlord before you apply. You’ll need their permission before any insulation can be installed.
